Play walking football in the Burgas Province
Founded in October 2017, Burgas WFC is on a mission to introduce the beautiful game of walking football to Bulgaria.
Hourly sessions take place every Thursday from 11.30am in the indoor sports hall of the Grand Hotel Pomorie, bordering the Black Sea.
Male and female players aged 50+ are welcome to attend for the small cost of just BGN 5.00 per session. Note that if you wish to continue beyond your first week, there is an additional signing-on fee of BGN 20.00 to be paid.
Burgas Walking Football Club offers the perfect environment in which to test your language skills and to develop new friendships across cultural divides.
Sessions begin with a short 10 minute warm-up led by Jackie, before 15 mins of skills training from Stan and a 30-minute match punctuated by a five-minute half-time break.
Games are refereed fairly by Barbara and Carol (when she’s there!) and are followed by an essential warm-down after.
Changing facilities are available for both men and women, although be warned – there is no hot water in the showers! Refreshments can also be purchased from the Grand Hotel Lobby Bar.
New players are asked to please call ahead of turning up to give an idea of numbers, and are politely asked not to park in the hotel car park, which is reserved for guests. On-road parking can be found at the nearby stadium.
