Tameside Striders Walking Football Group

All-weather walking football in Tameside

Join the Tameside Striders at one of their weekly walking football sessions, every Tuesday morning at Denton Youth F.C.

Take part in internal games of up to 20 players or more on all-weather 3G pitches. Mild contact is permitted and sessions are often mediated by a paid-for, impartial referee.

The Striders are supported financially but Age UK Tameside and the sessions are primarily for men aged 50 plus. When numbers allow, players are occasionally split into two groups of under and over 65s.

Kit is not provided for weekly sessions and players are asked not to wear football boots, but trainers or astroturf footwear instead. Tameside Striders are closely affiliated with The Nash Amblers who play regular friendly matches and enter competitive events.

New players are asked to call Alan Richards before turning up due to the session’s increasing popularity and will be asked to answer a few short health-related questions as part of a signing on process. However, there is no ongoing commitment to attend and sessions are paid for on a weekly basis.
