Head down to Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex every week for fun, safe and friendly walking football sessions – followed by coffee!
Since foundation in 2014, Xcel Walton Walking Football has strived to help players aged 50 plus achieve a range of health and social benefits, including lower heart rates, improved mobility and friendships to reduce loneliness.
Sessions are hosted on the Xcel centre’s synthetic 3G pitch and follow a custom set of rules focused on providing an enjoyable and safe experience for players of all abilities.
Balls must be played below head height and players are limited to three touches when in possession, however unlike many walking football sessions, shots inside the goal area are permitted.
Sessions usually consist of short 15 minute matches, punctuated by drinks breaks and changes of opponents. Man of the Match trophies are presented to top players.
In addition to the weekly session costs, Xcel Walton Walking Football also asks for a £1 contribution towards new kits, balls, bibs and other equipment.
New players are welcome to just turn up at a session and will be required to complete a short health questionnaire before kicking a ball.
